Germany, the Princess and Pumpkin Soup

Schwalheim.

Near Schwalheim.

Near Schwalheim.

Spooky trucks in Bad Nauheim Bahnhof. The first time we saw them it was dark and windy and we didn't enjoy the sight very much.

Haus in Bad Nauheim. (Really? What! Something must have rubbed off from the Germans...)

Chimney near houses in Bad Nauheim. xD

I picked out a pretty one for the picture, but all the houses are like that. Apparently, though, they're not worth much once you're inside.

These baths were built for a princess with health problems. I can imagine the scene:
-Time for your bath, dearie!
-No! No and no! I don't want to have a bath!
-Now, don't be difficult or you won't get any chocolates.
-I don't want to have a bath! I won't! I WON'T!

So she runs around the place, just a bit faster than the Queen and the King, who are getting a bit old for this sort of thing...

"I'll run away through the hole of Never Again and Iwon't EVER come back!"

(Pretty place to run around in, if you ask me... Even if you are too old for that sort of thing.)

I bet the tired parents eventually get sick of the scene and chuck Her Highness in...

"Pumpkin Soup.
The best you ever tasted!
Made by the Cat who slices up the pumpkin.
Made by the Squirrel who stirs in the water.
Made by the Duck who scoops up the salt, and tips in just enough."

More where they came from.

I am afraid I don't have a recipe for pumpkin soup. The quote is from a great children's book by Helen Cooper, Pumpkin Soup.

My grandma used to take spa baths there every year, as prescribed by her doctor.
